Haibun: Happiness

There is nothing like your little girl running down the hallway, all hair and giggles with her book in her hand, nothing like story time after a day of reliable failure. There is nothing like this reminder that there is something and someone to keep on drinking down oxygen for, even as each breath feels like pushing on a mountain, even as each second brings you closer to that next humiliation. There is something and someone on the other side, and such faith shall be rewarded.

happiness runs
down the hallway
in a Hello Kitty gown!
