30/30 Project Working Draft 8: Osae-Waza

This is the first poem of the second week, and it’s an aikido one. I wrote one during the Ridgeline Literary Alliance Poetry Month, and one is coming out soon-ish at the Midwesterner (but not yet).  More on that when it comes out.

Osae-waza is a term for pinning techniques in Japanese martial arts.  It describes a scene from a practice I was at a few years ago.  I’ve been interested writing more about the martial arts lately.  Mostly because I don’t get to be on the mat as much as I would like.  Maybe when my kids are older I’ll get to be more active.  In any case, I do carve out time as I can.
